Hi Sarah,
As you noted in your March 20th email, Historic Northampton's contract for the 'Preservation Assessment' grant will be
expiring on April 13. We will be submitting a reimbursement request and more completely detailing our accomplishments
later this week, but a balance of $18,500 will remain. The latter funds are earmarked for the preservation assessment of
the Parsons House, which is scheduled to take place this fall and be conducted by Myron Stachiw, an historical and
architectural consultant. For this reason, we would like to request an extension of our grant for another year.
Like so many projects, the pandemic delayed our work and while we've been able to complete the other activities
described in this grant (e.g. the restoration of the Shepherd House porch and planning and restoration activities for the
Shepherd Barn), the assessment of Parsons house was delayed --partly for reasons associated with proper social
distancing between the consultant and staff, and partly because Parsons house was being used as temporary storage
space for many of the large artifacts. These artifacts--large shop signs, weather vanes, bicycle, bell, farm tools and more)
will be re-installed in the barn later this summer. Once those items are out of the Parsons House, Mr. Stachiw will be able
to investigate the Parsons House more thoroughly.
Thank you for your consideration and we so appreciate the support of the CPC,
Laurie
