Historic District Commission Decision:
The Northampton Historical Commission voted unanimously on April 26, 2021 to grant a
certificate of appropriateness pursuant to Section 195 of the Northampton Code for proposed
roof, door, and window replacement and modification, and roof HVAC work as part of major
building renovation at 33 Elm Street, parcel ID 31B-253 as submitted by The Trustees of Smith
College. The Commission finds that the work proposed conforms to the performance standards
of the Ordinance and Historic District Design Guidelines by considering compatibility with the
existing parcel and the District.
Additional Conditions:
The applicant shall provide a revised door design that emphasized vertical lines.
