Bartlett Tree Expert Company On May 13, 2022, I met with Terry Reynolds who asked me to assess a large white pine in the forested lot located at 209 Earle St., Northampton MA. The eastern white pine (Pinus strobus) was mature in development with a 32 inch trunk diameter. The pine had a moderate lean and a 20 inch vertical cavity above the root collar to the southwest side of the tree. The tree also had a considerable amount of dead limbs throughout the canopy and a relative low live crown ratio. Due to the large cavity above the root collar at the base of the tree, the lean, and condition of the crown, I found the tree to be in fair condition. Given the fair condition and understanding of the extent of construction activities, the tree has poor suitability for preservation. Eastern white pine showing moderate lean. Major cavity was present at root collar and lower stem.
