Historic District Commission Decision:
The Northampton Historical Commission voted unanimously on September 27, 2021 to grant a
certificate of appropriateness pursuant to Section 195 of the Northampton Code for rooftop
solar installation at 137 Elm Street, Map ID 31B-167, as submitted by Justin Smith. The
Commission finds that the work proposed, with required additional conditions, conforms to the
performance standards of the Ordinance and Historic District Design Guidelines by considering
compatibility with the existing parcel and the District.
Additional Conditions:
Work shall conform to the plans submitted with the application, “137 Elm Street”, dated
7/29/2021, prepared by SunBug Solar
I, Sarah LaValley, as agent to the Historical Commission, certify that this is a true and accurate
decision made by the Historical Commission, and certify that a copy of this and all plans have
been filed with the Commission and the City Clerk.
I certify that this decision has been mailed to the owner and applicant.
Any person aggrieved by a determination of the Commission may, within 20 days after the
filing of the notice of such determination with the City Clerk, file a written request with the
Commission for a de novo review by a person or persons of competence and experience in such
matters, designated by the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission.
