Dear CPC Members,
We, the co-moderators of the Mill River Greenway Initiative (MRGI), are writing in support of the application by Historic Northampton for preservation, restoration and renovation of
HN’s Shepherd Barn.
The performance and display space in the barn is of particular interest to us since MRGI has no space in which to present lectures or to display materials from the river’s history, such
as the found objects of school children that excite classrooms full of eager students whom we’ve taken on field trips. In addition, MRGI has expanded its work into the schools, and
it would be a blessing to have a presentation and play space where classes can present the history of the Mill River.
We have worked closely with Historic Northampton for a decade, and we know how dependable, thorough, and generous they are with their staff and space. We strongly support this expansion
of opportunities for the whole City of Northampton.
