EwellMy name is Bill Ewall, and I live at 87 Henry St. I am very concerned about the potential rapid onslaught of development in my neighborhood. After looking at the proposed site plan for the small parcel at 107 Williams St., I took a short walk around my neighborhood, including Henry, Montview, Hockanum, Hawley and Williams streets, and it appears that we could be looking at more than 125 new apartments if constructed at the density of the 107 Williams St. parcel. I have been searching the town website for hours trying to find the exact maximum number of units per property under the new looming scheme, with no success. I am sure that the planning office has this data at the ready. Would you be willing to share it with me? I am very much in favour of building new units in our area, if done with careful planning, reasonable density, and at a reasonable rate of speed. But I am concerned about the condition of our local infrastructure, as are many of my neighbors. Ground water, paving, sewer, sidewalks and traffic safety are real problems now. Does your office have a plan to significantly upgrade the infrastructure to keep pace with rapidly approaching redevelopment? Are there building inspectors in place, plans for traffic safety during construction, street closing plans, dumpster placement regs, and all the other steps needed to ensure the safety of our residents? The collapsed trench at the failed 30 Williams St. construction site was alarming, and insufficient oversight at multiple construction projects could lead to disaster in a neighborhood with so many young children. I would appreciate it if you could provide the requested unit maximums per site with me a soon as possible, as many residents are asking for it. I would also appreciate any infrastructure plans you may have, as well as safety plans during construction. Thank you.
