RE: Request to move CPA funds within the Mineral Hills Greenway
DATE: February 14, 2022
I would like to ask for approval to spend the remaining funds ($6,919) in CPA account #109 for a habitat
restoration project that is located in the same greenway, but a bit north of what we intended when CPC
awarded us these funds.
We have looked at habitat restoration needs in our Mineral Hills Greenway. The best opportunity we
have is remove a massive culvert and gabion headwall over a tributary to Turkey Hill Brook located just
south of Turkey Hill Road. Removing this culvert will dramatically improve wildlife movement and
habitat along that brook.
We hope to hire an engineer to design this improvement. Once we have a shovel ready design our
experience is that we are in a much better position to obtain grant funds. Our projected funding is:
CPA 90 Mineral Hills Habitat Restoration (this is an allowed use of these funds) $ 1,396.23
CPA 109 Mineral HillsāMining Heritage (difference location in same greenway)* $ 6,919.61
Planning & Sustainability engineering and conservation accounts $11,884.16
TOTAL $20,200.00
Account CPA 109 is also for Mineral Hills Greenway, but was originally approved for the portion of the
greenway further south. Our request is to be able to use these existing funds for our highest priority
Mineral Hills project.
