2020 Channel Marker End of Season Report
• June 2020 – Prepared and repaired channel markers as needed for season. Painted and
replaced reflective numbers on all red nuns. Repaired bases, replaced attaching bolts,
and reflective tape, decals, and numbers on hazard, no wake, and green cans as
needed. Replaced #8 Nun and No Wake “H” with new markers. Fabricated new steel
base for #013 Oxbow lighted marker. All markers emplaced by 6/21/2020.
• 6/7/2020 – Cut and removed fallen trees obstructing Oxbow channel on north side of
channel between public launch and I-91 bridge to allow for safe passage out of Oxbow.
Southern side fallen trees remain, channel is ½ obstructed at this time.
• 6/30/2020 – During marker check noted Nun #6 listing and missing cone from impact
damage. Located and salvaged cone 100 yards south. Pulled marker, straightened
base, and reattached cone.
• 8/2/2020 – During marker check noted Nun #12 listing and impact damaged. Pulled
marker, drained water and replaced bung seals. Base snapped when straightening,
replaced base with old used base per Wayne Feiden’s instructions at beginning of
season to salvage parts if possible. Re-deployed marker.
• 8/19/2020 – During marker check noted #5 green can missing. Located barrel on beach
just north of Oxbow inlet with propeller damage and missing base. Replaced with new
per Wayne Feiden.

• 8/24/2020 – Participated in and supported Mitches Island Clean-up operation.
• 9/6/2020 – Received call from Luke Brunelle that #1 green can had been recovered by
South Hadley resident. Recovered remainder of can, impact and propeller damaged and
missing base, anchor, and chain. Noted for replacement for 2021 season.
• 9/7/2020 – During marker check noted #10 impact damaged and #12 hit again, taking on
water. Recovered both.
• September – October 2020 - Recovered, inventoried, and stored all 56 channel markers.
Prepared reports as needed.
