Abutters and Tenants Focus Group Meeting

The city is planning a parklet at Main Street and Cracker Barrel Alley. Abutters and tenants will be
uniquely affected, for good and bad. Before we start design we need your thoughts and ideas.
Geographic Scope: Where the alley intersects the
sidewalk and street (as in our November pilot
project) or also some of the alley?
Seating: The concrete barrier in the alley has
created some noise problems. Should seating be
only immediately adjacent to the sidewalk?
Art: Are there opportunities for public art, perhaps
building murals?
Access: Pedestrian access on a path where snow
can be cleared is a given. Is there ever need for
vehicle access to the buildings or down the alley?
Circulation: The pilot project has also tested a change in
deliveries and potential conflict points. What works and
what doesn’t work.
Business Opportunities: Are there additional potential
opportunities (e.g., outdoor cafes).
