In 2018 Smith Charities with financial support from the Massachusetts Historic Commission and the Northampton CPA Committee completed a study of the condition of our building located at 51 Main Street in Northampton. This study identified a number of areas where the building was in deed of rehabilitation and restoration. One category in the study was identified by the architects and engineers as “emergency repairs”. Smith Charities applied to the Massachusetts Historic Commissions MPPF grant program for funding to assist in these “emergency repairs”. We were successful and received a grant of $50,000 for MPPF round #26 with work to be completed by July 1, 2021. While $50,000 was the largest grant made in MPPF round #26 it was considerably less than we had requested and insufficient to complete the identified emergency repairs. We seek funding from the Northampton CPA committee to be able to complete the necessary emergency repairs.
