VA Park and Ride Lot 2012 ORDER

Upon the recommendation of the Office of Planning and Development
WHEREAS, The Massachusetts Highway Department agreed to fund the creation of a park-and-ride lot at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Leeds (VAMC), along with a pedestrian
phase for the VA Route 9 traffic signal; and
WHEREAS, The Municipal Transportation Plan, adopted by the Transportation and Parking Commission, the Planning Board, the Board of Public Works, and City Council, recommends “Explore
the potential for park-and-ride lots (e.g., in Leeds…)”; and
WHEREAS, On September 6, 2007, City Council authorized the Mayor to accept a long-term lease for a park-and-ride lot at the VAMC; and
WHEREAS, An easement may be a beneficial approach for the City and the VAMC.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,
The City Council authorizes the Mayor to accept an easement for a park-and-ride lot at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Leeds.
