We are writing in support of funding for an 85 plus parcel of land located within the Willard property area in Florence/Northampton.
Since we moved to Florence more than 25 years ago we've enjoyed exploring that area ( which we used to call "the desert' when our son was little).
On that land we've seen countless animal tracks including bear, coyote, racoon, etc and
it definitely acts as a corridor for much of the local wildlife.
Also, the ponds in the area have been home and nesting grounds for turtles and other reptiles to lay their eggs. We've observed them on their
arduous journey back many times.
Many species of birds also call the Willard property home, ( or at least
rental property) if they migrate.
Bottom line, this parcel is valuable to our community for recreation, wildlife, water sources, and quality of life.
We hope that the CPC will vote in favor of granting the $118,000 requested by the city of northampton to place a CR on this parcel of land.
