CPA update report playground creation spring 2018 Playground Creation at Florence Recreation Fields & Lampron Park CPA Update Report The Playground Creation funds at Florence Recreation Fields (Spring St., Florence) and Lampron Park (Bridge St., Northampton) funded construction and addition of play and park structures at both locations. The total project cost is $250,000. The CPA grant is funding $50,000, or 19.6 percent of the cost. A State Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs Division of Conservation Services (DCS) grant, “Our Common Backyards Program” funded $200,000 of the project. The CPA grant funded the design and some of the construction of the playgrounds. The construction at Lampron Park included the addition of swings, a shamrocker pre-school age playground amenity, new light posts and lights, and a beautiful fence along Bridge Street. The construction at Florence Recreation Fields included the addition of part 1 of the Tree House play structure. The majority of the project is complete, with remaining CPA funds expected to be expended in 2018, when phase 6 of amenities of Florence Recreation Fields should be taking place. The play structure as well as additional playground components are a part of this phase, estimated at approximately $400,000. The architect has been hired and the Friends of Parks & Recreation are close to embarking on their fundraising effort to fund phase 6. These funds will help fund the second piece of the tree house play structure at Florence Recreation Fields which is approximately $35,000 of the project.
