2016 Annual Report
Playground Creation at Florence Recreation Fields & Lampron Park
CPA Update Report
The Playground Creation funds at Florence Recreation Fields (Spring St., Florence)
and Lampron Park (Bridge St., Northampton) funded construction and addition of
play and park structures at both locations.
The total project cost is $250,000. The CPA grant is funding $50,000, or 19.6 percent
of the cost. A State Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs Division of
Conservation Services (DCS) grant, “Our Common Backyards Program” funded
$200,000 of the project.
The CPA grant funded the design and some of the construction of the
playgrounds.
The construction at Lampron Park included the addition of swings, a
shamrocker pre-school age playground amenity, new light posts and lights,
and a beautiful fence along Bridge Street.
The construction at Florence Recreation Fields included the addition of part
1 of the Tree House play structure.
The majority of the project is complete, with remaining CPA funds expected to be
expended by Fall of 2017, when phase 6 of amenities of Florence Recreation Fields
should be taking place. The play structure as well as additional playground
components are a part of this phase.
As of the end of February, the architect has been hired, and they have begun the
plans, which will go out to bid at the end of Spring 2017.
These funds will help fund the second piece of the tree house play structure at
Florence Recreation Fields.
