Kestrel
Land
Trust
would
like
to
express
our
support
for
the
appropriation
of
a
general
conservation
fund
for
the
Northampton
Conservation
Commission.
Land
conservation
projects
can
come
up
quickly
and
having
a
reserve
of
unrestricted
funds
available
is
essential
to
closing
a
project
in
a
timely
way.
Conservation
projects
are
also
complex,
requiring
perpetual
Conservation
Restrictions,
as
requirements
for
CPA
and
state
funded
projects.
This
fund
can
also
be
utilized
to
provide
the
necessary
funds
to
cover
baseline
reports,
stewardship
funds
associated
with
the
long-‐term
monitoring
obligations
that
Kestrel
Land
Trust
takes
on
when
we
agree
to
hold
a
CR
with
the
City
of
Northampton.
Please
support
this
appropriation
of
a
general
conservation
fund.
We
are
counting
on
Northampton
to
continue
as
a
conservation
leader
in
the
Valley
—
providing
outdoor
recreational
opportunities,
clean
drinking
water,
and
protected
farmland,
all
to
ensure
our
quality
of
life.
