Housing First for Hampden. Hampshire.
Franklin and Berkshire Counties
February 4, 2016
Dear Community Preservation Committee:
I am writing on behalf of the Western Massachusetts Network to End Homelessness to express
our enthusiastic support for its permanent supportive housing project for homeless youth.
The Friends of Hampshire County Homeless have a proven track record in acquiring and
converting homes for the homeless population. The Network is grateful for its significant
contribution to providing permanent and affordable housing in Hampshire County.
This project, which will increase affordable housing for youth ages 18-24, directly meets a
pressing need in Hampshire County and across the Western region. With the number of
homeless youth on the rise and such limited alternative housing options available to them, this
proposal provides an exceptional opportunity to serve a population in great need. By partnering
with DIAL/SELF, a youth services organization that is expert in meeting the needs of homeless
youth, this project is assured to meet its intended goals.
It is our privilege to support Friends of Hampshire County Homeless in their commitment to
make such a meaningful difference in our community.
Best,
Pamela Schwartz, Director
