2014 Annual Report January 13, 2015 Dear John, Please accept this 2014 CPA annual report for the Grow Food GROW FOOD NORTHAMPTON, INC Northampton Organic Community Garden project, funded by the CPA. 245 MAIN ST, #207 NORTHAMPTON, MA 01060 (413) 320-4799 In 2014, Grow Food Northampton (GFN) successfully completed the GROWFOODNORTHAMPTON.COM third year of build-out at the garden. Using CPA funds, private and in- kind donations, and over 700 logged volunteer hours, we undertook the BOARD OF DIRECTORS following activities to expand the garden and create additional Adele Franks, President infrastructure: Chris Bakker, Treasurer Susan Pincus, Clerk  Completion of an on-site composting outhouse Joe Blotnick  Completion of a nature-based children’s play area Sue Crimmins  Purchase of additional mowers, watering cans, and hand tools Hope Guardenier  Gaby Immerman Design and purchase of permanent signage Pandora Redwin  Installation of on-site weed composting system Johanna Rosen  Update of the Garden’s master plan & siting of development to Jen Smith be completed in 2015 STAFF Grow Food Northampton continued to offer 225 plots of land, provided Clem Clay, Executive Director organic gardening education and support to new and returning Laura Hilberg, Programs & Administration community gardeners, established educational gardening space for Pat James, Volunteer Coordinator children, and managed the Giving Garden, which donated a total of over 1,000 pounds of produce to area soup kitchens on a weekly basis. NORTHAMPTON COMMUNITY FARM Crimson & Clover CSA In 2015, Grow Food Northampton intends to complete the Garden Florence Organic Community Garden infrastructure and draw down the remaining balance of our CPA Mockingbird Farm funding, unless other arrangements are made with the CPA committee. Sawmill Farm We currently have plans in place for the construction of structures to Slow Tractor Farm provide additional covered storage, shade, and a gathering space for The Farm Education Collaborative gardeners, an information kiosk for the garden entrance, and a post and chain barrier to protect the driveway during the winter and early spring. To date, we have spent $67,895.95 of the original funding amount of $104,500, and have one additional outstanding invoice in the amount of $94.00 (for a combined total of $67,989.95 spend and $36,510.05 remaining).
