the characteristics of this building in terms of other buildings within the community. This building has been altered in so many ways it is hard to find its original sections. On the
north is what appears to have been a one-and-a-half story California bungalow with staggered front-gabled roofs with exposed rafters and brackets. The roofs rest on stucco-covered piers
at the street side. From the east elevation of the bungalow an attached, two-story wing extends to the south where it joins a front-gabled, novelty-sided portion of building that was
once a carriage barn. The connector is stucco-sided and has a cross-gabled dormer on its roof. All the roofs have been done in standing seam metal. The novelty-sided section of the building,
the former carriage barn, is two-stories in height and projects from the connector to make a C-shaped plan for the whole. HISTORICAL NARRATIVE Discuss the history of the building. Explain
its associations with local (or state) history. Include uses of the building, and the role(s) the owners/occupants played within the community. From Form B of 1975: “In 1916, the property
was transferred and no structures were mentioned in the deed. It is probable that the bungalow was built shortly following the sale of the land. A small summerhouse on the property would
appear to date from the 1910’s. The twentieth century residence is located on Riverside Drive over the Mill River. To the east and west are located nineteenth century mill complexes
which capitalized on the swift running river’s waterpower. Also to the west are numerous units of worker’s housing erected by industrial concerns.” BIBLIOGRAPHY and/or REFERENCES Beers,
