Evaluate the characteristics of this building in terms of other buildings within the community. This is a two-story house under a front-gabled roof with wide eaves. It is three bays wide and the equivalent of four bays deep. There is a one-story wing/secondary entry on the east elevation. The windows of the first floor of the house’s south façade are nearly full-length and there is a rondel window in that gable field. The Colonial Revival style house has a hipped roof porch that rests on Doric columns. Window sash has been replaced by 1/1 vinyl but original surrounds remain that are capped. This is one of several modest, front-gabled houses that are found on Prospect Street. HISTORICAL NARRATIVE Discuss the history of the building. Explain its associations with local (or state) history. Include uses of the building, and the role(s) the owners/occupants played within the community. Clyde Noble was raised in Florence and stayed to marry and occupy this house by 1919. He worked for the Northampton Gas and Electric Company as a salesman while Grace raised their daughter Margaret. By 1930 the Nobles had been replaced by Edward and Mary Rumse. Edward worked in the Twin Shoe Stores Company as their manager and secretary and Mary was at home with the couple’s four children. In 1940 the house was occupied by R. J.
