Use as much space as necessary to complete the following entries, allowing text to flow onto additional continuation sheets. ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION: Describe architectural features. Evaluate the characteristics of this building in terms of other buildings within the community. This is a two-and-a-half story Colonial Revival style home with jettied side gable roof covered by slate. The house has been covered in vinyl siding so some of the home’s original architectural features have been lost. The three bay front façade is dominated by a three story center entrance pavilion that is capped by a hipped roof. On the second story of the pavilion is a palladium style window, however it has been covered over by vinyl making it difficult to discern its original features. On the third story of the pavilion is a band of four windows with decorative upper sash. The house has a flat roof front porch that extends across the full width of the front façade. The porch has Tuscan columns and balustrade with square balusters. The original porch frieze with dentil row has been removed or covered over and now the porch has a solid frieze. The triple window with ornately leaded transom on the left side of the porch has also been replaced. On the right side of the porch is a bay window. The home’s windows appear to be old, just stripped of their original paint. Windows on the home are mostly six over one sash. The house has at least two brick chimneys that are located near the ridge on the eastern slope of the roof at opposite ends. The property includes a one bay garage. HISTORICAL NARRATIVE Discuss the history of the building. Explain its associations with local (or state) history. Include uses of the building, and the role(s) the owners/occupants played within the community. From Form B of 1979/1980: “This house was built during 1904 for Frank L. Clapp at a cost of $4500. Mr. Clapp was co-owner of a Main Street meat market.
