the characteristics of this building in terms of other buildings within the community. This is a two-and-a-half story Colonial Revival style bungalow. The steeply pitched side gable
roof extends all the way to the first story to contain the full width front porch under the main roof. The screened porch is supported by massive paneled piers. A large shed roof dormer
with wood shingle cladding and two six over one sash windows sits prominently on the frontward slope of the roof. At the ridge of the steeply pitched roof is a small brick chimney. This
house has stucco cladding with the exception of the gable field and front dormer. Some of the windows on the house are the original six over one sash windows while others are six over
one sash replacements. On the western elevation of the home, there is a side entrance and on the rear, northern elevation, there is a back porch. HISTORICAL NARRATIVE Discuss the history
of the building. Explain its associations with local (or state) history. Include uses of the building, and the role(s) the owners/occupants played within the community. From Form B of
1980: “Madison Avenue is a short street off of East Street and extends easterly to the brow of the river terrace overlooking the meadows. This small subdivision was filed in 1910 by
prominent Northampton developers Edward Barrett and James O’Brien. The five houses on the street all date from the period shortly afterwards.” The William and Roslyn Maginnis family
