the characteristics of this building in terms of other buildings within the community. This is a two story apartment building with a slate side gable roof. This apartment row includes
five apartments which are linked together by a continuous shed roof porch. This apartment row was built with little stylistic features with the exception of the three story corner tower
with polygonal roof and finial located at the building’s northwestern corner. The building is now now vinyl sided and the windows on the home have all been replaced with vinyl one over
one sashes. There are five brick chimneys along the ridge of the roof, resulting in a chimney for each of the five apartments. HISTORICAL NARRATIVE Discuss the history of the building.
Explain its associations with local (or state) history. Include uses of the building, and the role(s) the owners/occupants played within the community. From Form B of 1980: “This five-unit
row house was probably built to house employees of the Belding Bros. & Co. silk mill, which was located on the western side of Hawley Street, opposite Eastern Avenue and Isabella Street.
