the characteristics of this building in terms of other buildings within the community. Like its neighbor at 32 East Center Street, this is a vernacular Italianate house. Its plan is
somewhat more complex as it has a two-and-a-half story front-gabled section with a two-and-a-half story wing on the east and a one-and-a-half story wing on the west for a T-shaped plan.
The roof has moderately wide Italianate eaves and an arched window in the front-gable section. Both Both the front-gable section and the larger wing are two bays wide. In their angle
is a porch on chamfered posts on high pedestals and there are brackets at the eaves for ornament. There is a three-sided bay window on the east elevation and it also has brackets at
its eaves. An added garage and porch across the smaller west wing is supported on heavy posts. HISTORICAL NARRATIVE Discuss the history of the building. Explain its associations with
local (or state) history. Include uses of the building, and the role(s) the owners/occupants played within the community. From Form B of 1980: “East Center Street is pat of the 1870’s
subdivision that Nonotuck Silk Co. developed atop the hill northeast of the village of Leeds. By 1884 six houses had been built on this street, including this one, which was listed as
