WHEREAS,, City Council has already approved CPA funding of $120,000 in
December, 2010 for this project; and
WHEREAS, the project will provide permanent housing for at least five chronically
homeless people in Northampton who are committed to sobriety; and
WHEREAS, The project will be carried out with the Gandara Center, in conjunction
with the Alliance for Sober Living and the Recover Project, to provide a
carefully supported residential recovery program; and
WHEREAS, the project provides services for underserved populations; and
WHEREAS, the project provides housing that is harmonious with surrounding
community; and
WHEREAS, the applicant has a strong record of success with the previously
supported "Yvonne`s House;" and
WHEREAS, on February 16, 2011, the Northampton Community Preservation
Committee, voted unanimously to recommend $30,000 in Community
Preservation Act funds be used to support this project.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDERED,
That $30,000 be appropriated from Community Preservation Act funding to the Sober
Housing for Chronically IIomeless Individuals project (Part 2). And, that the grantee
meets the conditions approved.by the Community Preservation Committee, the
Mayor, and City Council.
Specifically, $30,000 is appropriated from the CPA Budgeted Reserve (account
#2344930 - 359930).
