Jackson Street Recreation CPA Application 05-01-2008 COMMUNITY PRESERVATION PROJECT APPLICATION FORM I: Project Information Jackson Street Bike Trail Access Acquisition Project Ю±¶»½¬ Ì·¬´»æ Ю±¶»½¬ Í«³³¿®§æ The addition of a ramp to connect Jackson Street to the Norwottuck Rail Trail is supported by the Mayor, City Council, Office of Planning and Development, Transportation and Parking Commission, Friends of the Northampton Trails and Greenways and many members of the community (provided in a petition submitted to the Mayor by students, parents, teachers and staff of the Jackson Street Elementary School). In order to build the connector ramp, two separate parties must provide Right-of-Ways to the access the bike trail. Therefore, recognizing the difficulty in closing land options with two separate parties, the Northampton Office of Planning and Development is requesting $35,000 prior to providing an offer to National Grid and an offer to a private third party. These funds are being requested prior to signing an option to purchase so that the Office of Planning and Development may negotiate a price and close within 120 days of the offer. If, within one-year of receiving the funds, Northampton cannot close on both properties, all unspent funds will be returned to the City of Northampton CPA Fund.
