Changes from the previous budget
We received bids for the project since the last CPC meeting and they came in higher than
anticipated (bids attached below).The low bid is $346,429.Approximately $130,000 is for the
timber frame structure and the rest is for sitework and other construction costs.
This is in line with or less than the costs of similar,recently built pavilions in our area.The
timberframe of the ‘Airnasium’at the Hampshire YMCA cost $178,950 and with the sitework,the
total project cost was close to $1 million.The town of Hatfield spent $215,000 on the timber
frame for a 26’x26’pavilion,not including site work and construction costs.
The revised budget below clarifies what funds are secured and what are pending.In addition to
CPA funds,we have one pending grant of $20,000,and one grant for $50,000 that was recently
denied.We also changed our request for CPA funds to be used only for the pavilion itself,and
not staff time or trees,given the higher-than-anticipated bid.
Are quotes from the bidding process guaranteed for a certain period of time?
Yes.If we proceed and sign a contract with either bidder the quote will be fixed and guaranteed.
If we don’t proceed and sign a contract,by December 22nd in the case of one of the bidders,we
will have to redo the bidding process.
