Re: Council Orders 20.175 & 20.176 - Petition for Joint or Identical and Single Ownership
Pole Installs, Removals, and Relocations No. 23303524 -- Damon Road Reconstruction
Project MassDOT No. 608236 - Damon Road
I have reviewed Department of Public Works (DPW) records and submittals including images,
sketches and reconstruction plans for MassDOT Damon Road project No. 608236. This petition
includes the proposed installation and relocation of five (5) single ownership (SO) poles owned by
National Grid, referenced in City Council Order 20.175, and the proposed installation, removal, and
relocation of thirty-two (32) joint ownership (JO) poles shared between National Grid and Verizon,
referenced in City Council Order 20.176.
The five (5) SO poles on Damon Road include proposed installation of two (2) poles, numbered PO-
50 and P7-50, and proposed relocation of three (3) poles, numbered P16, P17, and P18. These poles
are to be located at a point approximately 57 feet northeast of the centerline of the intersection of
North King Street and Damon Road and continuing approximately 339 feet in an east direction.
No potential conflicts were observed.
The thirty-two (32) JO poles, numbered P1 through P31 on Damon Road, include proposed
installation of three (3), removal of one (1), and relocation of twenty-eight (28) poles. These poles
are to be located beginning at a point approximately 140 feet northeast of the centerline of the
intersection between North King Street and Damon Road and continuing approximately 4200 feet in
an east direction.
The proposed relocation of P7-25 (ULT7 on MassDOT plans) appears to be less than five (5) feet
from a hydrant. Please provide a minimum separation of five (5) feet.
We note that P7-25 is shown 35 feet east of P-7 on the petition but appears to be 35 feet west of P-7
on Sheet 43 of the utility plans submitted for a trench permit. Please clarify the location in writing
to the DPW, attn.: Donna LaScaleia.
A valid trench permit approved by the DPW is required before work at these locations commences.
