However, Massachusetts has a proprietary testing and approval process for plumbing products, and although many products are approved, not all are. Many well known brands and manufacturers simply do not go through the processes required. It is possible that a particular product that you may select may not have been approved, and if it is rejected by the local inspector, the customer will have to select an alternative product and pay any difference in cost between the items, as well as any shipping or restocking charges. Of special concern may be specialty products or unique items. Vendors have some additional information, and there are websites that you can check but the information may not be up to date. We regret this inconvenience. 59 NOTE 1: All mechanical and electrical contractors are expected to meet all local and state fire stop requirements, associated with the cuts required for this work, including providing and installing fire caulking, sheet metal closures and other approved procedures. Trenching at building and excavation for porch concrete piers to be coordinated during backfill or earlier, as practical. Remove stumps. Rough grade to be relatively smooth and hole free, contoured for proper drainage. Superior Wall Site Preparation Procedures Prior To Installation This document outlines the basic information needed to prepare your site for the installation of the Superior Wall System®. Refer to Superior Walls Builder Guideline Booklet for complete information. It is Critical that your site be properly prepared PRIOR to the delivery of the walls. ACCESS TO SITE: Trucks have a minimum clearance of 10’ wide by 60’ long from all objects (trees, wires or structures) Entrance (Cannot be less – minimum requirements) at least 32 feet, Drive at least 12 feet, Roadway at least 22 feet Any sharp turns in driveway are wide enough to accommodate tractor trailers TREES AND WIRES: Trucks require clearance of at least 14 feet (Cannot be less – minimum requirements) Cranes must be at least 30 feet from the nearest wires (Cannot be less – minimum requirements) 76 Crane may not lift over wires, trees or existing structures. If ANY overhead obstructions are present, you MUST contact Weaver Northeast Customer Service prior to installation CRANE PREPARATION: Crane pad must be at least 30’ x 50’ (Cannot be less – minimum requirements) Crane pad must be Flat, Level, and Compacted Crane must have stable footing to eliminate sinking Crane pad has no more than a 2 foot pitch from front to rear Crane MUST stay at least 15’ from edge of excavation. Should site conditions require a crane larger than what is specified in the proposal, customer will be responsible for supplemental crane charges. EQUIPMENT ON SITE: Equipment capable of pulling 80,000 lbs. (i.e. – backhoe, loader or bulldozer) must be available with an operator or on call within 1/2 hour to assist truck and crane entrance to and exit from job site as necessary. See Weaver Northeast – Terms and Conditions EXCAVATION Superior Walls Must be installed on Virgin Soil Excavation has at least a 2 foot over dig (minimum requirement) Excavation is properly benched. (OSHA requires foundation excavation greater than 7’6” deep, bench 2’ for every 5’ of depth. Trenches are at least 36 inches wide (minimum requirement) STONE: Stone requirement is 1/2”, Clean, Crushed (AASHTO #8 recommended) NO LARGER Stone must cover the entire area where walls are to be set and graded level to within 1” Stone depth must be at least 6” (minimum requirement – see Superior Walls Builder Guideline Booklet) CORNER PINS: Pins defining all outside & inside corners must be in place in the stone footing, including trenches. Diagonal drawings are available from Weaver Northeast Customer Service upon request. NOTE: Placement of corner pins is the responsibility of the customer. Pins MUST be in place before walls will be set. Upon completion of installation and before backfill can commence: 1. Framing / decking must be completed in compliance with “Superior Walls – Builder Guideline Booklet”. 2. Concrete floor / slab must be installed. 3. Reference “Before you Backfill” instructions posted on the outside of your foundation and your “Superior Walls – Builder Guideline Booklet” for specifics concerning final preparation for backfill. Finish Grading Per code, slope grade from the structure ½” per foot for 10’ minimum. Adjust final grades for drainage and proper contour, according to site plan, if available or to reasonable trade standard for proper drainage and erosion control. Screen and reuse existing loam and topsoil materials, and augment as needed for sufficient loam material to provide a minimum of 4” coverage on all disturbed areas as noted on site plan. Note: If setbacks limit the space to less than 10 ft., install either: Swales or drains designed to carry water away from the foundation. 77 Tamp backfill. Backfill tamping is not required if proper drainage can be achieved using non- settling compact soils. Final loam thickness should be relatively consistent, with material substantially free of debris, and left ready for machine raking and seeding. NOTE: spread thickness will subsequently compact when raked and prepared for landscaping. Walk and Wall Prep Leave ample site materials for final back filling and coordinate with stone contractor. Sewer Install new schedule 40 PVC plastic sewer line from 10’ outside building and tie in to municipal sewer system. Use appropriate Fernco. # hub connector for the application. Water Service Water service from street to basement utility area, with holes and cuts sealed by piping installer using hydraulic cement or other approved method. Shut-off by plumber. Water tie-in and meter fee per Section 01 01 03. 1” Copper Utility Trench Provide 30” deep utility trench for electric, cable, and telephone and prepare bottom of trench with 8” of sand to cover burial cable. Back fill with site material removing any large stone and restore grade. Caution tape is to be placed in each trench 12-24” above lines. Surface flagging is to be installed for utilities. Electrician or piping installer is responsible for inspection pictures, if required, and provide to utility company and Wright Builders. Foundation Drainage 4” Flexible plastic perimeter drains set in crushed stone covered in filter fabric and pitched to daylight, with clean-outs to grade every 100’ or as needed.
