Larry , Northampton Gas inspector
Tested shunt trip emergency switch for the 3 boilers. All three boilers
shutoff. Boiler 2 shunt trip contacter is noisy and will be replaced .
Setup boiler BSt and modbus communication . Automated Logic was able
to communicate with manager AERCO benchmark platinum Bacnet MSTP
connection . Address is 2 , device instance 2525102, and baud of 76800.
Tested 4-20 ma signal with temperature range of 100-180F .
System supply and return header sensor read good.
There are no boiler disconnect switches within sight of boilers . Used the
20 amp 460 vac circuit breaker in panel board outside mechanical room .
Also used boilers circuit breaker behind two covers of boiler to shutdown
power .
Had an issue with boiler 1 blower fan . It was purging at a very high speed .
Eventually found the blower fan purge setting set at 6.8 vdc where the
other 2 were set at 4.8 vdc . Will test blower fan more tomorrow because
it still sound like it’s has a vibration issue .
Gas pressure to each boiler, after gas regulator is between 38 to 46”wc .
Boiler 3 internal boiler gas fitting had a crack in it . Boiler 1 and 2 had small
gas leaks on internal gas fittings that connect to natural gas SSOV . BG
Mechanical fixed all gas leaks and thoroughly checked for gas leaks after
fixes . All good .
Started all three boilers and tested the safeties to get ready for state gas
inspector . All safeties tested

good. Dillon of BG mechanical ran hoses out to drain hot water and add
cold water to system because there was very little heat load available .
The boilers aren’t installed on pads because of ceiling height issues .

worked good through the whole combustion testing process.
Tested all three isolation valves and end switch operation while testing the
AERCO BST ( boiler sequencing technology ) .
Went over the boiler sequencing and BMS relays and isolation valve wiring
with Brian and Jason of Automated Logic . Nate , control electrician ,
wired the controls. Each boiler has a RIB relay contact wired to each
boilers remote interlock . That relay contact is opened if the system water
temp rises above 132F . The RIBrelay on the manager boiler is
programmed for the high temp shutdown and AERCO boiler system
enable per BMS. The isolation valve end switch , on each boiler , is wired
to relays in the BMS control panel in boiler mechanical room . Off each
boilers end switch relay is two contacts . One contact is wired to its
boilers delayed interlock . The other contact is wired to BMS digital input .
The mechanical engineer designed the geo thermal heat pump system to
be the primary heat source for the multiple buildings , I was told a total of
12 eventually . The geo system is to maintain 130F and if the geo system
can’t handle load and system temp drops below 128F the BMS enables
the AERCO boiler system . We talked about keeping the boiler system on
all the time , at a setpoint of 128For so and the geo set at 132 F or so . By
keeping the boiler system on , as apposed cycling the AERCO boiler
system off a relay , will keep the boiler PID control loop modulating boilers
without shutting boiler system down on a relay which resets the boilers
system PID loop .
Boilers 2 and 3 were cycling on system setpoint . Boiler 1 is in exhaust
temp alarm . Replacement sensor was ordered.
When I left , the AERCO boilers were running while Automated Controls
were finishing testing their system points . BG Mechanical to shutdown
