Re.: Remedy Implementation Plan at former Cutlery Raceway
Dear Sarah,
As co-moderators of MRGI, we speak on behalf of our membership in expressing our
enthusiasm at the prospect of remediating the left bank of Mill River from the Cutlery
north toward Maine’s Field. Restoration of this river reach will unlock a vital link to
access trails along the river both up- and downstream of the Cutlery.
In particular, we are writing to affirm our support of Rick Hudson’s and Joyce Vann’s
request to the Conservation Commission of March 24, 2022 to remove the fencing along
Riverside Drive from the Cutlery northwards toward Maine’s Field. Not only does the
fencing form a barrier and hazard to wildlife, but it does and will prevent access to
walkers at the Cutlery end of the fence. We are eager to work with the City to enhance
accessibility of this area to humans and non-humans alike, including extension of the Mill
River Greenway trail system along the length of Riverside Drive.
We look forward to the day when this damaged reach of the river can be restored and
serve as a link for both animals and people.
Thank you,
John Sinton Gaby Immerman
