Dear John,
We continue to receive complaints from your neighbors because the dumpster is being emptied
very early in the morning. This is a violation of the City of Northampton Zoning Ordinance, Section 12.1
(H). I understand that you have attempted to resolve this problem and the issue seems to be
scheduling by your waste contractor, but continued violations of city ordinances are unacceptable. If
these violations continue, I will assess penalties. Penalties for violations of city ordinances may, upon
conviction, be affixed in an amount not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100.00) for each offense. Each
day or portion of a day that any violation is allowed to continue shall constitute a separate offense.
Each time I receive another complaint, I will issue a notice of violation and prosecute the violation in
housing court. I am confident that the court will issue fines.
Feel free to call if you have any questions. Our telephone number is 587-1240 and our office hours
are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, excepting that we close at 12:00 noon on
Wednesdays. My email address is lhasbrouckcity.northampton.ma.us.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
