What defines a neighborhood, a town a community? How do communities show respect for their history, honor diverse ethnicities and cultures that that raised future citizens, that built the structures that continue to enrich this town. How do you know you’re almost home? It’s not more luxury condos. It’s unique old multifamily homes, the dike in the distance, but especially the bell tower you can see from blocks away. This beautiful structure, St. John Cantius Church, long a Polish religious and cultural center, has profound meaning for many, evoking loyalty, a sense of belonging. Please do not destroy this building. It’s value goes way beyond it’s outward beauty and sadly neglected interior. History is irreplacable.
