Academy of Music CPA grant letter of supportThe Academy of Music plays an important role in the future of arts and theater audiences in this
community. As the former Education Director I know first hand that the more than 100
participants in the summer programs and musical theater productions come to the Academy
because of the space. By spending time in a place that holds historical significance and
opportunities to be on stage, the facilities are a part of the draw to join the Academy’s programs.
There is nothing like performing on that stage and seeing a performance in that audience space.
The beginning of every love for theater starts from the front door and the lobby. The Academy
is unlike any other space that young people can spend time in. As a host of educational
programs for Pioneer Valley Ballet, the teachers and students from public and private schools
across the region have always commented on what a magical place the Academy is to see live
arts performances. It is the space that adds magic to the event.
Now that the interior space of the audience has been improved, the next step is to continue the
advancements in the lobby. By continuing the projects in the building, the families will continue
to see that the community cares enough about the arts to improve the places they hold dear.
Old buildings lose the magic if they are not part history and part modern convenience.
These projects to improve the Academy will recoup the value in young performers turning into
tomorrow’s audience members.
