Eventually we repair Main Street to be even more friendly to walking and biking, while retaining its ability to move and park cars. Our Recipe 8/23/2016 Projects | Main St/Cracker Barrel Alley Parklet | Patronicity https://www.patronicity.com/project/main_stcracker_barrel_alley_parklet#/6/8 Raw ingredients:  One unloved alley (not needed for cars and mostly unused) Eight feet of street in front of the alley- the most valuable real estate in the city usually empty Old concrete, asphalt, and brick pavers An odd angled crosswalk at a blind curve Bollards and other barriers New movable chairs New movable tables Opportunity to expose some soil Some plants Some dark-sky friendly lights Near-by coffee shops and cafes Add some unique Northampton 섌avor and secrete spices People who live, work, play, and visit Take one Cracker Barrel Alley and a sprinkle of Main Street.  Put in a bollard and other barriers to close off the cars. Add something growing and green. Restore some natural functions.  Add movable tables and chairs. Add some unique Northampton 섌avor and secrete spices. Line up the City Hall Crosswalk. Make it permanent. Sit down and enjoy your parklet and rehabilitated alley. Repeat as needed. Welcome to the Northampton Pavement to Parks program. The Process Smith College students and community members will collaborate on a design.  Design winter 2016-17, with community input, and build spring-summer 2017. Thank you for your contribution and celebrate fall 2017. We want community input and a space that evolves over time to meet changing needs. Here's where YOU come in... All donations will be listed in our celebration.  Donations over $500 will be recorded in a SPECIAL park feature.  Our Story So Far!
