Summary of the Forest Stands Stand Forest/Habitat Type Approx. Size (acres) Notes (OM) Mixed Oak 1.09 Dry oak ridgetop community unique on property. Dominated by chestnut oak. Low soil productivity and timber quality. (HH) Hemlock/Hardwood 4.18 Steep north and east facing slopes. Overstory dominated by hemlock with hemlock midstory. Heavy disease, storm damage, and blowdown presence. Slight invasive shrub/vine presence. (RM) Red Maple/Mixed Hardwoods 14.73 Fairly uniform composition and age, second growth red maple stand. Understory and midstory density and diversity is lacking. Heavy invasive shrub and vine infestation. (RM/WH) Red maple with white pine/hardwood 11.29 Old field-pine relics with dominant red maple overstory. Flat, upland shelf transitioning to moderate east-facing slopes. Deep, productive soils. (BM) Red maple with mixed birch and a wide mix of hardwoods/softwoods 12.04 Fairly uniform composition and age, second growth red maple stand. Understory and midstory density and diversity is lacking. Heavy invasive shrub and grape vine infestation. (WH) White pine/hardwoods 6.82 Isolated, high quality white pine, hemlock and assorted hardwoods. Flat terrain surrounded by brook, road, and property boundary.
