his client's construction project at #175 Jackson Street in Northampton, Massachusetts.

III. Analysis
Prior to the preparation of this report I inventoried the existing trees that may be
interacted with during the proposed construction project at #175 Jackson Street in
Northampton, Massachusetts. Each tree was assessed individually.
A. Pre-existing Tree Health Issues
(Please refer to the comment section in table #1)
Most of the trees that were inventoried and inspected were trees along the perimeters of
the property. Some of the trees inventoried were dead before my inspections.

The critical root zone of this tree should be a minimum
of 20 feet from the main trunk. The work should be
completed with a mini excavator to avoid unnecessary
root damage and branch damage. Tree protection
fencing should be installed prior to the start of
construction. The arborist can be available at the time

Tree Along the Perimeters
Along parts of the north perimeter there is a proposed infiltration swale to be installed.
When doing this work care must be taken not to damage the trunks of the existing
perimeter trees. Protection fencing must be installed prior to the start of the construction.
The arborist can be available at the time of the excavation if needed. Protection fencing
must also be installed along the south and the east perimeters. Special care should be
taken when removing and installing the existing driveway and parking areas along the
south perimeter to avoid unnecessary root damage to perimeter trees. Please refer to the
tree location drawing #1 on page #4. The arborist can be available at the time of the
excavation if needed.

IV. Conclusion
This report attempts to address every tree individually that is involved with the
construction project. Additions and exceptions will certainly have to be made as the
project evolves. The report should be used as a guide to the contractors and to emphasize
that the trees are important to the city of Northampton, Massachusetts Hopefully it will
assist the city and its’ contractors to work as a team to protect the trees.
