1. Contractors shall verify all dimensions and take own measurements at the job site
before commencing any work. Advise architect of any errors or discrepancies.
2. Work shall be performed in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local
codes.
3. Contractors shall coordinate all work with other trades and installation of all
equipment items or assemblies prior to commencing work. Notify architect of any errors,
disprepencies or conflicts prior to continuing.
4. Do not scale drawings if dimensions are in question. The contractor shall be
responsible for obtaining clarification from architect before continuing with construction.
5. All contractors are to use complete sets of construction documents for bidding
coordination and construction. Subcontractors are not to assume that complete scope of
work is illustrated in individual trade drawings under any circumstances.
6. Contractor shall consult and obtain permission from utility owners prior to
commencement of work and cooperate with owner and utility company in keeping
respective services and facilities in operation. Repair damaged utilities to satisfaction of
utilities, secure approval of connections to existing utilities from appropriate utility
company and local authorities prior to covering.
7. Under no circumstance shall any trench required for utility connections, etc. outside the
property line be without protective barricades nor be left open at the end of a day's work.
8. No open excavation shall be left open at the end of a day's work without adequate
protective barricades to assure public safety.
9. Install and maintain adequate bracing and or shoring required to prevent filling in or
cave-ins of adjacent materials at all times.
10. Remove all water and disturbed soil from excavations prior to commencing further
work each day.
11. Contractors shall not damage site beyond project limit lines. Any damage beyond
project lines shall be repaired immediately to owner's satisfaction.

Existing space is on first floor of Property at 229 Main Street, Northampton,
MA.
Area of work square footage: 1,200 sqft
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The tenant space was the former 'Happy Valley' retail store location and is
now being proposed to be used as a business providing ice cream take-out
service (non cooking-intensive food establishment) with some interior seating.
The area of work has masonry bearing walls and wood joist floor and ceiling
structure. There is one public front entry door at grade and one private exit
through the adjacent business 'Urban Exchange' to an open exterior stairway
to grade at service area on North. The tenant space is not sprinklered. There
is an interior stair to a basement storage space with approximately 1,100 net
square feet interior space which is not in the scope of renovation work.
Proposed alterations in the area of work are the conversion of existing first
floor space to an ice cream shop, including creating an food serving area,
seating area, food prep area and one unisex ADA bathroom along with the
related electrical, plumbing and hvac upgrades.
