RE: Planning Response
Proposed Commercial Building
100 Main Street
Florence, MA
Dear Carolyn:
On or about January 4, 2014, T Reynolds Engineering (TRE) received comments from your office. TRE is herein
responding to the comments from you. For ease of review, TRE has responded to the items and has listed the
comments in their order and responded in bold below each comment.
I concur with DPW that the driveway entrance cannot exceed 24', so the final plans will need to be changed prior
to construction and can be part of a condition of approval.
Plans have been changed to reflect a 24’ driveway entrance.
Additionally, for some reason the pole light by the Maple St entrance is much brighter than the others. The
maximum number of foot candles cannot exceed 5. It is showing 7+.
The lighting plan has been revised to reflect maximum foot candles not exceeding 5.
Can you please clarify if the dumpster enclosure -including the front swing gates will be tongue and groove PVC
panels? It is not clear if it just the sides or the whole structure.
The dumpster enclosure has been revised to be chain link with privacy slats. This change was made
due to the anticipated commercial use and concerns regarding durability of a PVC enclosure.
Finally, we'll need a new sidewalk detail that clarifies that the driveways must ramp up to the sidewalk and the
sidewalk is to maintain a continuous elevation around the site.
The driveway apron detail has been revised to reflect 5% max transition slope for the sidewalk.
Thank you,
Terrence Reynolds, PE
