Foundation design criteria was assumed forpurposes of foundation design and shall be confirmed by a soils engineer, at owner's expense, prior toconstruction. (This procedure may require revisions to foundation design, at additional expense to the owner, ifsoils engineer determines that such design criteria are inappropriate for this building site.)* Footings shall be placed on undisturbed natural soil or compacted fill tested and approved by soils engineer.* Maximum assumed design soil pressure: 2000 psfCONCRETE AND REINFORCEMENT:* Concrete shall conform to with the current ACI-301 Standard Specifications of Structural Concrete.Minimum 28 day compressive strength (F'c) and design properties as followsFoundation elements:F'c = 3000 psi min.Water/Cement ratio = .53 maxSlump = 6" max* Deformed reinforcement: New billet steel, ASTM A615 grade 60.* Epoxy adhesive: Hilti Hit - HY 200.* Reinforcement shall be fabricated and placed per ACI Manual of Standard Practice (ACI-315).* Concrete cover over reinforcement: 1 ½” for concrete placed against forms; 3” for concrete placed againstearth.* Keep reinforcement clean and free of dirt, oil, and scale. Oil forms prior to placing reinforcement.* Do not use Calcium Chloride in any add mixtures with reinforced concrete.* Appearance of finished concrete shall be approved by the owner.STRUCTURAL STEEL:
Structural Steel Beams: A992 Grade 50.* HSS Tube steel: ASTM A500 Grade B
Angles, Plates, misc.: ASTM A36.
Connector Bolts: ASTM A325
Column bearing plates shall be supported and aligned on steel shims or leveling nuts, set back a minimum of34" from the edge plates. After the supported members have been plumed and properly positioned and anchornuts tightened, the entire bearing area under the plate shall be packed solidly with non-shrink grout that shallbe "EMBECO", "FIVE STAR" or equivalent. Minimum compressive strength 5000 psi. Non-Metallic.* Structural steel shall be erected true and level. New steel shall fit tight to the existing building. All beamsexcept cantilever beams shall be fabricated with the natural camber up.
All structural steel fabricated and erected per the current edition of AISC Steel Construction Manual.* Welding shall be performed by qualified welders.* Welding electrodes shall be ASTM A233, class E7018 electrodes. All welds shall be sounds throughout. Theheat, length, and sequesnce of welds shall be controlled to prevent cracks and distortions.* Bolts shall be of length that will fully engage the nuts. Bolts heads and nuts shall bear evenly against themetal.* All steel members and connectors shall be hot dipped galvanized per ASTM A123.Pre-fabricated stair treads:Prefabricated, Hot dipped galvanized 114" 15W4 bar grate treads with slip resistant nosing. Treads shall supporteither 100 psf uniform load or 300 ponds concentrated load, whichever is the more sever. The contractor shallsubmit product data sheets for the pre-fabricated stair treads prior to assembly.Guard rail:* Guard rails and bottom rails: 1 12"Ø schedule 80 pipe 42" above landings and 36" above stair tread nosing.* Pickets: 12" x 12" square bars at 4" on center spacing.* Rail support posts: 112"Ø schedule 80 pipe at 5'-0" on center maximum spacing on 38" thick base plates with aminimum of (2) 12"Ø A325 bolts.* All guard rail elements shall be hot dipped galvanized.STRUCTURAL ERECTION AND BRACING REQUIREMENTS.* The structural drawings illustrate the completed structure with all elements in their final positions, properlysupported and braced. The contractor, in the proper sequence, shall provide proper shoring and bracing as maybe required to achieve the final completed structure.* These plans have been engineered for construction at one specific building site. Builder assumes ALLresponsibility for use of these plans at Any Other building site. Plans shall not be used for construction at anyother building site without specific review by the engineer.* Observations of foundation reinforcing or framing required by the owner, lender, building department or anyother party will be accomplished by the engineer at the owner's expense. At least 24 hours advance notice isrequested.* Fabricator and / or supplier of structural steel shall submit shop and erection drawings for architectural andengineering review. Submit two prints for each drawing. Allow ten working days for review.
