RE: Ford Dealership
DATE: September 11, 1996
At the request of Ed Skroski, Chairman of the Northampton Redevelopment Authority, I am
requesting that you review the perceived incursion of the Ford Dealership onto property
owned by the City along Industrial Drive.
As yoia,f les will show. we have had concerns over the years about the Dealership's use of
property belonging to the City. (I enclose a copy of most recent correspondence.) We are
about to undertake the addition of a right turn lane from Industrial Drive onto Damon Road
and need to insure that the corner property is being appropriately utilized.
Our specific concern is with the green space abutting Yankee Wood. It appears that cars are
being stored closer to that property line and to Industrial Drive than is allowed.
Unfortunately, the Plan enclosed does not show that area.
Thank you for your review of this matter. (0 r

Mr. Frank Sienkiewicz
Building Inspector
Municipal Building
212 Main Street
Northampton, MA 01060
Dear Mr. Sienkiewicz:
As Chairman of the Northampton Redevelopment Authority, I would
like to request that you inspect the use of property by the
Northampton Ford dealership which abuts the Northampton
Industrial Park (NIP) .
There are two concerns:
1. Over the years, cars have encroached on the area owned by
the City on which the NIP sign is located. The attached
plan shows the property line. Any cars parked beyond the
paved area are on City property.
2. In the rear of their building, the paved area has been
extended by using crushed stone. It appears that the
additional parking area created may violate the original
permit as it specified the percent of open space to be
maintained.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Sincerely,
Edward Skroski,
Chairman
Northampton Redevelopment Authority

MEMORANDUM
Northampton Redevelopment Authority
TO: Building Inspector
FROM: Penelope Kim "V(/
SUBJECT: Report on Site Visit to Northampton Ford
December 14, 1987
DATE:
FILE:
Paul Lussier (Huntley Associates) , Bill Nimohay (Building
Inspector) and I met with Roger Jourdain, Manager of Northampton
Ford at 11:45 a.m. We reviewed the bounds and property lines.
The attached sketch shows the corner of the property. We located
the pin #1 and ascertained that the row of light poles set up
parallel to Damon Road is placed just within the property line
of Northampton Ford. We further ascertained by viewing the line
between pins 41 and #2, that the property line lies approximately
6" outside of the paved area.
We next viewed the property line from #2 to a pin further down
Industrial Drive. From the vantage point of #2, the light poles
are within the property line while one pole which is out of the
alignment essentially marks the outside of their property line
itself.
Roger Jourdain agreed that several cars were indeed parked on
City property and agreed to keep all cars on the Ford property in
the future. He noted that they had initially been mowing the
City-owned corner property but had ceased doing so when questions
about intrusion across the lines were raised. (The wooden beam,
which sits behind the marker, is in disrepair and we should
consider whether it should be repaired or removed. )
We agreed that the City DPW should be asked to mow the corner
property unless the NIP Tenants Assoc. wants to take on the
responsibility.
