Dear Matt:
As per our conversation this letter shall serve as a denial of a building permit
for the renovation of the second story of 492 Pleasant St. , Northampton, for a place of
assembly.
Article 12 of 780 CMR State Building Code requires sprinklers in buildings greater
than 1 ,200 sq. ft. As 492 Pleasant St. , is approximately 8,000 sq. ft. per floor it is
the decision of this Department that sprinklers are required.
This letter shall also serve as a notice that I will wave the ten (10) day notice
if you choose to appeal this decision.
Sincerely,
B uce A. Palmer

After talking to Chief Jones we feel that because of the type construction
of the building at 492 Pleasant St. the requirement for a sprinkler system will not
need.
