July 17,2006 Brian F.Duggan,Fire Chief City of Northampton Fire Department 26 Carlon Drive, Northampton,MA 01060-1034 RE: New Sprinklers for 21-31 Main Street Dear Chief Duggan, My Project Manager,Richard Lloyd, met with Deputy Chief Nichols on Monday 5/15/06 regarding the proposed sprinklers for the Fitzwilly's building at 21-23 Main Street.At this meeting we gave him drawings showing the proposed areas of sprinkler coverage. We propose to add sprinkler coverage(wet system)to the above mentioned building in the following areas: A.All egress stairwells and hallways. B.The Northeast American School of Dance space on the fourth floor. Please confirm our understanding that if the sprinkler coverage outlined above is provided we will receive approval from both the Northampton Building Department and the Northampton Fire Department for occupancy and use of The Northeast American School of Dance space on the fourth floor as an alcohol-free dance space with an allowable occupancy of275 people(as existed prior to passage of Massachusetts General Law c. 148, s.26g%).
