The purpose of the test was to determine whether or not there was a "straight sewage disposal pipe" running from your dwelling into the adjacent waters of the Connecticut River Ox Bow. The test, conducted at 8:45 a.m. on July 2, 1990, involved the placement of a dozen dye tablets in the toilet and flushing it several times. No dye (fluorescent yellow/green) was observed in the water along the shore either immediately after the drop, or one (1), two (2), or four (4) hours later. The results of this test do not preclude the existance of a "straight pipe," but merely that at the time of the test, no dye was seen in the adjacent water and that sewage is not flowing to the ground surface. It should be noted that there is no record of a septic system ever having been installed at the site. If you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact the Board of Health office. Very truly yours, Peter J. McErlain Health Agent PJMcE/cdh
