Both iconic buildings are located at the heart of a historic Frederick Law Olmsted-designed campus landscape.The program will provide approximately 124,000 square feet of new and renovated spaces in the Neilson Library and approximately 21,000 square feet of renovated spaces in the Alumnae Gymnasium for collections, seating, staff functions, teaching, learning and technology programs, a café, special collections and archives exhibit area, event and gathering spaces. The site includes the current locations of Alumnae Gymnasium, Neilson Library, Burton and Seeley Lawns and adjacent campus open spaces as defined in the schematic design. The Project will include demolition of existing facilities on the site, including abatement, new utility service connections, and construction of new interior and exterior spaces. The design of the new Neilson Library will be set on the foundations of sustainability allowing it to achieve high performance building features.
