It is the left side of a wood framed two family dwelling, constructed prior to 1900.The structure is in fair condition. I observed a number of code violations: The steps at the rear door(a required means of egress)have settled, and the top step is considerably lower than is allowable (see photo#1). There are two meters on the building and two electrical panels in the basement, corresponding to the two dwelling units. The wiring to the panels is not, however, connected to the proper panels. There are circuits serving#14 connected to the#12 panel. Further, there are circuits serving common areas that are connected to the panel for#12. There is not an owners meter or panel. Additionally, some of the existing wiring constitutes a hazard; there is insulation pressed against portions of the knob-and-tube conductors and there are open electrical boxes in the basement(see photo#2 and 5). The vent pipes for the gas water heater and furnace do not have the required clearance from combustible materials(see photos#3 and 4). Feel free to call if you have any questions. Our telephone number is 587-1240 and our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, excepting that we close at 12:00 noon on Wednesdays. On Monday July 19th, I made the decision to contact Isaiah Jm to schedule a more timely inspection(it is our intent to schedule inspections within 5 days if possible). spection occurred by me on July 20`h, 2010 at which time violations of the state sanitary code were found. s to Correct were issued dated July 21st,2010 (see attached). to conducting the inspection the landlord (Roger and Donna Salloom)was contacted by the department. lords, especially those with which we are familiar, are sometimes contacted prior to an inspection. Often ems can be solved in a faster and easier fashion if the landlord is contacted with the specifics of a daint. There are numerous examples of this, including past issues with 14 Western Ave., the other unit at roperty in question. There was no attempt by Roger or Donna Salloom to influence the department's staff. mmary, an inspection was conducted within an adequate timeframe and Orders to Correct were issued that lepartment will follow through with as we do with all of our housing cases. Finally, the tenant was told that Auld contact the State's District Health Officer if unsatisfied with the findings of this department. :rely, Wood
