I have rented the downstairs apartment in a so-unit house at 270 Bridge St. for the last three years. Up until this summer, there were no problems. In late June, our sewage lines became totally blocked by tree roots, causing a massive flood of raw sewage in the basement, which we had used for storage for several years with no problems. The sewage flood damaged most of our stored belongings. The landlords initially told me they would call a cleaning service after the flood had been allowed to dry (the advice of growing throughout the basement, the as we ll as cardboard boxes thatpwere still waterlogged with tsewage.downstairs over sendbyoru photos.ekend and discovered mold When I contacted the landlord to ask about having the basement cleaned out, she asked us to remove all of our damaged belongings ourselves and said that someone could come in and sanitize after that had happened. None of the tenants feel safe handling materials that have been mouldering in sewage all summer. Furthermore: more than one way by the roots. After 48 hours of processing time, water test past rned up a strong 1positive fore oll bacteria. I have attached a copy of compromised positive test as well as test instructions; the yellow color of the water sample indicates the presence of fecal bacteria. We would like to have the city come out and take a look at the basement, and also test the tap water in both apartments in the house. This is a very scary situation. We're mostly a house of graduate students on limited incomes, and we just signed a new lease(I am in the process of obtaining legal counsel...had I new known htewter a co tamiinat Pearlier, (reach absolutely st uiey not oil address o signed a phone at lease).Any h 196 th city can offer in resolving this situation would be greatly s Many thanks in advance, Anna Anna E.Waltman, MA.
