Dear Mayor Higgins:
In accordance with the public notification requirements of the Massachusetts Contingency
Plan (MCP), 310 CMR 40.1403(3)(t), we are hereby notifying you of the filing of a
Response Action Outcome (RAO) following the release of approximately 10 gallons of
hydraulic oil to the pier of thFLoalirlge Bride and to the Connecticut River. Cianbro
Corporation conducted Immediate Response Actions (IRA) consisting of the containment
and cleanup of the spilled hydraulic oil. A total of 16 drums of absorbent materials used in
the cleanup of the above-referenced spill were collected and properly disposed. The
release has been reduced to levels that are below the applicable Massachusetts
Contingency Plan(MCP) cleanup.standards.
A Class A-1 RAO has been filed with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental
Protection (MDEP) to complete response actions at this site. A copy of the RAO report
is available for review at the MDEP office in Springfield. File review hours are held on
Wednesdays between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. For

In accordance with the Public Notification requirements of the Massachusetts Contingency Plan
(310 CMR 40.1403(3)(d)), we are notifying you of the availability of a Response Action Outcome
(RAO) report for the remediation of a fuel oil release to the Connecticut River (CT River) near
the Calvin Coolidge Bridge on the Hadley, Massachusetts side of the river. The report indicates
that, as a result of remediation and investigation activities conducted by Tri-State Painting, Inc., a
condition of No Significant Risk of harm to human health, safety or the environment exists at the
site.
Copies of the report are available for review at the Western Regional Office of the Massachusetts
Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) at 436 Dwight Street in Springfield,
Massachusetts. DEP may be contacted at (413)-755-2268 to arrange a file review.
