Subject: RE: Windows
Please do b/c we ran our heat on 74 all night and it is still cold in here.
The heat is just going right out the window and I am not messing around this winter with
the rising cost of gas prices. Between the ants and now this, I am at my witts end. The
condensation around the windows indicates the warmer air from inside combining with the
outside air. I need to if this would be an issue you would handle or do I take it further
b/c I believe they either change the windows or pay our heat this winter.
Thank you again!

Subject: Windows
Hi Ernie - Hope you enjoyed your Summer.
Just wondering if you know anything about links between complete condensation on windows
and drafts. We're back to the same window problems as last year and I 'm not ready to see
my heating bill go out the window.
So
far we are running our heat on 74 and we are all getting sick. Very concerned. (Just tc
refresh your memory I'm the one with the major ant problem at Hampton Gardens)
Thanks for you reply!

Hi Donna,
Your husband called and left a message on Thursday stating that you do not want to
reschedule with me and that you would rather take the matter un with the management
yourselves. He said he was going to arrange to speak with them about changing or fixing
the windows. That was the last I heard. I will call him at his work today.

Subject: Follow up
Good Morning Ernie-
Thank you for being so understanding with our last cancellation appointment.
Michael and I have been sick and I am holding our window situation accountable. My
husband has attempted to contact you to follow up, explain our situation and to schedule
another appointment. Perhaps you can contact him at work today (413) 773-9150 BRIAN
FORBES, to discuss our situation further. The windows are terrible and beginning to show
signs of mold growth (which I am allergic too) due to the intense condensation. We are
also noticing a heating problem because the upstairs remains cold even when we run our
heat at 73 degrees. Heat is suppose to rise which would show an indication of major heat
Again, you can understand our concern with a newborn arrival in January, our Toddler's
health and our lease being up in March. We want to make sure that the window situation
combined with heat loss, expense and mold growth will not effect our children and
ourselves and also by bringing this attention to the Board of Health, a major increase in
cur rent which would force us to move.
Thank you again for your understanding.

Subject: Housing Inspection
Hi Donna and Brian,
Wien I did the inspection of your apartment on 10/27/04, you did not want me to send a written letter of citation to
your landlord until you checked with your husband. As of yet I have not heard back from either of you. Do you
want me to follow through by sending your landlord a letter to correct the violations or would you like to handle it
with them on your own?
What do you wish to do? I will be glad to help. Please let me know.

Please do not underestimate my intelligence Mr. Hughes. I have done my
research on weather tight windows amongst the other many issues we have
experienced at Hampton Gardens. At this point I will not be dealing
with
you on our present issue and have contacted the owners, Spear
Management.
will be drawing up a detailed list of all the problems we have
encountered
and continue to encounter since we have lived here which will include
the
pictures I have taken for the parties involved to review. If need be,
will also submit our heating bill as well as contacting the utility
company.
Thank you for your time.

Subject: RE: Frost
Donna,
In is not unusual to have ice form on the inside of an aluminum window
frame. Metal is a good conductor of heat and cold, and so the metal on
the
outside conducts the cold to the frame facing the inside. When the moist
air
of your apartment comes into contact with the cool window glass, it
condenses and runs down the window. When it conies into contact with the
aluminum window frame, the water can freeze.
That is a different situation than having a draft blowing in. We had
caulked
your windows prior to the winter. If you have drafts we will remedy
that
situation.
I would be very interested in reviewing your gas bills with you. if you
would call me at my office I will be happy to review your gas bills with
you.
Sincerely,
Gerard Hughes

Sally -
Wondering if this is a normal thing at Hampton Gardens? Perhaps you can
dive me a contact number or email address for Spear Management so I can
follow up with them. As this melts it causes mold and moisture, not to
mention loss of heat and increased gas bill. We have to run our heat at
75
just to take the chill out of the air from the extensive drafts.
Thank you for following up!

Hi Mr. Mathieu -
Thank you for your recent help with the window issue I had. They have been very kind to
have someone inspect the situation and are working with me.
I did have one question. I am concerned about a notice that went around to Northampton
residents about the drinking water. Are you familiar? I placed a call to the water
department to send me out that memo but I have yet to receive anything. A bit worried.
Thank you for all your help!

Donna,
OK I'll wait to hear from you.
Stay calm and relax. Also, I suggest that you and your husband together ask for a meeting
with the top maintenance person to get a commitment from them to rectify the situation and
a time frame that it will be done by. Ernie

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you but we were having trouble with our dial up.
Thank you so much for all your help. I must say that I am extremely concerned about
complaining any further because we have a year to live here and don't want to inflict any
more ill feelings from management. I am, however, concerned about the dampness of the rug
and the ants, not too mention our upcoming Winter season with the drafty windows. My
husband feels we should talk to them one more time about the rug and if action is not
taken, then pursue them with your assistance. I must say that I am extremely exhausted
from this experience and don't know how much more I can take.
I will call you on Monday to speak further.
All the best!

Hi Ernie - In a bit of a rush b/c they need us to move our cars in order to sweep the
parking lot. I have contacted mgt and they have not fixed the windows as of yet. Our ant
situation has become out of control and has left me very upset. Ants crawling on my
coffee table, counter and on my child. I am extremely upset. Can't a person live without
drafts and ants ! ! ) ! I would not mind if you contacted them at this point b/c I running out
of energy to deal with this. I will contact you later today when I get home. Thanks again

far this last application has been effective. Lets hope this works b/c I am really exhausted with this
