17D-079 (4) Tihe 5oll*te Collector Solar alternative has been active for the past S years in designing, building and installing solar a. hot water systems,pool heaters, and space heating systems. Based on this experience and the avail- ability of the Kennecott Terra-Lighttm absorber plate, we have designed and built the Solitetm Collector. ,a In designing the Solite Collector, we have used the following criteria. We have chosen mater- ials which will stand up to the extremes of temper- ature and time. We worked these materials so they can expand and contract independently of each other as the collector heats and cools. We have held the absorber plate securely and isolated it from the exterior surfaces of the collector. The result is a collector that is simple and TWO SOLITE COLLECTORS MOUNTED FOR DISPLAY austere, tough and yet light-weight. It is easy to install. The Solite Collector will endure and deliver low cost solar energy. MATERIAL AND DESIGN DATA COVER: Single glazed .040 Sunlite 11,88%solar transmission. Positive pressure seal allows for expansion and contraction yet maintains a weather-tight seal.There are no external ALUMINIUM REFLECTING FLANGE crossbars or moulding to hold snow on the collector. j ALUMINIUM BOX ABSORBER PLATE: Kennecott's Terra-Lighttm 22 x 96 in. all SUNLITE 11 GLAZING copper sheet with square tubing 2 in.on center.The design provides uniform heat transfer(no variation of more than /> 100 F on any part of the absorber).The plates are coated AIRSPACE with a baked on black absorptive paint.Terra-light plates are designed to operate at 25 psig.
