HN Support emails.docxMs. LaValley,Although I have just recently been introduced to Historic Northampton, I do fully support this grant of money for renovations to the facility.I, and my family, have a
personal interest in seeing an area created to exhibit our family's late 19th century Peanut Roaster. My family, the Musante family starting with my 3x great grandfather, used this roaster
as part of a street vendor stand on the corner of Main & Pleasant Streets starting in the early 1880's. It was donated to Historic Northampton in 1973 by a family member who passed away
a number of years ago. This donation is a heartbreaking issue for our family members alive today, as it cannot be in our possession to pass down to our future generations. However,
we understand and have an agreement in place, that after its 42 years in storage at Historic Northampton's facility, it will no longer be stored away, but rather, on display for the
city to enjoy and learn about. It was indicated that this newly renovated space would be where it will be displayed. This is very important to our family.I'm sorry I cannot be at the
meeting personally, but hope this letter serves as positive support for this grant to Historic Northampton.Thank you,Tara K. Ussailis and family
To Whom it may Concern,
I'm writing
to ask that funds be granted to our Historic Northampton!
Their expanded programming has been great for those of us in the arts and beyond. It would be wonderful to have the buildings
restored so they can be used safely and creatively.
Time for the mice to move out!
Sincerely,
Ellen Augarten

Hello Sara:
I and I’m sure my neighbors who may be away or cannot attend this CPC mtg because of the Candidate Forum strongly support this grant of Community Preservation Committee
for $350,000 to fix the historic barn, to replace the Damon House roof, and to waterproof the collection storage areas of Historic Northampton.
It is not only a benefit to this neighborhood
but the city at large. We hope the CPC will fully and heartily support this grant.
Cheers, Fred Zimnoch

I am writing to say how important
I think it is for Historic Northampton to get the CPA Grant. The three houses are our living history. Places that tell the Northampton story. Without these grand houses new people
to Northampton will never know about the people who settled here and what they did for the city.As a former President of Historic Northampton I want to thank you in advance for your
consideration on this project.

To the Community Preservation Committee:
I am a member of Historic Northampton, but not able to come to the meeting tonight due do a
previous commitment. I am writing in support of the request for grant funding from the CPC to repair these historic buildings.
Historic preservation seems to be a growing movement
in many communities and we need to support the current administration in their successful efforts to revive our community’s interest in Historic Northampton.
Preserving the history
of Northampton is very important, not just for Historic Northampton, but for all members of the community, as well as visitors to the city. History tells the story of the past, and
can provide insight on how to approach the future.
If we don’t take care of these buildings now, our collections may be damaged beyond repair.
These are just a few of my reasons why Historic Northampton should receive grant funding
from the Community Preservation Committee.
Thank you,
Adelaide Cain

Historic Northampton is a worthwhile investment for cpc funds. It provides a
link to the past for many old and new residents. There are also many interesting lectures and programs presented. It is important to maintain the historic structures before it is too
late or more expensive if repairs are delayed Waterproofing historic documents is sound practice.
I urge the CPC to award this grant to Historic Northampton for the benefit of all Northampton
residents.
I am unable to attend tonight’s meeting

I regret that I will not be able to attend this evening’s meeting of the Community Preservation Committee due to a conflicting commitment. I want to lend my support
to the request of Historic Northampton for funding towards repairing historic buildings and preserving the collection from water damage. Both the barn on the Bridge Street campus and
the Damon House are in urgent need of work. It is important to save Historic Northampton’s irreplaceable collection of papers and material objects for the future.
Since my 2010 move
to the Valley from Kentucky, I have impressed and heartened by the keen interest in historic preservation in this area- a welcome change from the apathy that led to much loss in the
Bluegrass and eastern Kentucky. I have appreciated the opportunity to visit Historic Northampton and have often taken guests to see exhibits and attend events. The recent series of
Historic Northampton programs has been nothing short of remarkable, including this fall’s Sunday afternoon series of lectures that had to be relocated to another venue because the Historic
Northampton venue was too small for the crowds who wished to attend.
Historic Northampton is all about preserving this community. I cannot imagine a more worthy recipient of Community
Preservation Act funds.

To Sarah LaValley and the
Community Preservation Committee,
We work on Wednesday nights and thus regrettably cannot be physically present at the meeting tomorrow when the grant proposal for Historic Northampton
will be discussed. We were both born in Northampton and have lived and worked here with an enormous sense of pride of place. We love Northampton and its history and culture. We want
to express our wish that the CPC recognize Historic Northampton as the treasure that it is and help preserve both its buildings and its collections, which if lost will be irretrievable.
Historic Northampton, under the extraordinary leadership of Nancy Rexford, has become an organization in robust recovery--many excellent public programs have been offered and membership
has grown enormously—but there is still so much to be done.
Artists and naturalists have been involved in amazing program offerings over the past year, open to all, including our most
valuable resource—our children.
If we can restore Historic Northampton we will have more to offer our schools, visitors to our city, and to all residents.
It perhaps goes without saying that repairs made sooner will head off a need to do much more costly repairs later—only one more of many reasons for the CPC to fund the Historic Northampton
grant proposal.
Thank you for counting us as present at tomorrow’s meeting, with a loud, double YES vote of confidence for Historic Northampton.
We urge the committee to fund this worthy
proposal.

Sarah-
I am writing to express my support for Historic Northampton's request for CPC funding to
rescue and repair their buildings. There is no organization that can take the place of Historic Northampton and these crucial repairs are vital steps in insuring the organizations survival.
While I am unable to attend the meeting this evening due to work commitments, I did want to take the occasion to express my support.
Thank you as always for your time.

Hi,I
am emailing in support of Historic Northampton's request for CPC funding to restore and maintain their buildings. This is an organization that has a lot to offer to the city in terms
of enrichment and education . Please support their request.

We write in support of Historic Northampton's application
to the Community Preservation Committee. For a city that can trace its founding to a mere few years after the Puritans landed at Massachusetts Bay, Northampton has not one building,
in its meagre stock of Colonial era-structures, that is open to the public. It is imperative that the early-18th century Parsons House and the ancient Shepherd Barn be preserved, and
fitted as educational centerpieces for future generations. Each has a compelling story to tell about Northampton history and the people who lived and worked within their walls, and the
role they played in helping to shape the city we know today.
Damon House, an elegant example of early 19th-century Northampton and the present-day hub of Historic Northampton's vigorous
and visionary programs and goals, stands side by side to the Parsons and Shepherd House and barn; together they form a unique historic district on a gateway street to the city, underscoring
the importance of preserving and sustaining their heritage.

The fact that Nancy Rexford has been acting director, without any compensation, for over a year is remarkable. She has held "that place" together during this turbulent year. She is not
even a Northampton native but cares so deeply for Northampton's Historical Society that she is willing to give of her time. She realizes the value of Historic Northampton and it is time
that the residents of Northampton "stand up" and support the treasure we have in those three historic houses on Bridge Street and their artifacts. Hopefully Historic Northampton will
still be in existence long after all the rest of us are gone.

My wife and I have been always interested in Northampton’s history and we wish to add our names to the supporters of this repair project to the Damon House.
I was a trustee of Historic Northampton for several years and have done volunteer work in describing and identifying the various military acquisitions of the society. I have also done
research and published papers on Northampton’s past history. History is important for several reasons and I cannot enumerate all of them, but one is to produce and show pride in the
accomplishments of the past. Another reason is to profit from their experiences from our past and to avoid possible errors in the future. Historic Northampton is a vital and important
part of this city and should be supported in its endeavors and assisted in its maintenance.

Due to a family child care commitment, I am unable to attend the meeting in person tonight.
As a member of Historic Northampton
and my volunteer interests at preserving the history of Northampton, I strongly support the organizations application for CPA funds.
The award of these funds will go a long way to safe
guard our historical assets for future generations.
Please make this a priority for this year.
